Voor mijn stage had ik nog een weekendje weg gepland met mijn vriend. We wilden niet te ver weg gaan, dus hebben we gekozen voor eigen land en dan in Zandvoort. Van vrijdag tot zondag gingen we naar het NH-Hotel in Zandvoort. Op die vrijdag had ik mn laatste werkdag op Schiphol, dus werd ik daar opgehaald door hem en gingen we door naar Zandvoort. Natuurlijk kwamen we in de file van de vrijdagmiddag terecht, maar dat maakte niet uit! Rond kwart 0ver 4/half 5 gingen we weg op Schiphol en iets voor 6 uur kwamen we aan in Zandvoort! Het was een wat lange reis, maar ach het regende dus dan ben je alleen maar blij dat je in een auto zit! Op vrijdagavond hebben we gegeten in het hotel, we hebben het bij een voorgerecht gelaten, want we hadden niet zoveel trek eigenlijk. S’avonds gewoon wat tv gekeken, want ja je gaat ook geen strandwandeling maken in de regen. Op zaterdag hadden we gelukkig beter weer. Eerst heerlijk ontbeten in het hotel (ontbijt is echt goed!) en daarna gingen we maar beslissen wat we die dag gingen doen. We besloten om maar gewoon wat rond te lopen in de winkelstraat. Die avond hadden we eigenlijk geen zin om naar een restaurantje te zoeken en hebben we besloten om roomservice te bestellen. Je betaalt er misschien wat veel voor, maar ach het was heerlijk om gewoon op de kamer te kunnen blijven! Op zondag besloten we beetje uit te slapen en daarna weer lekker te ontbijten. We hadden een Lazy Sunday erbij genomen en konden daarom tot 5 uur in de kamer blijven en dat was wel lekker !! Op je zondag wil je gewoon niks doen en je in ieder geval zeker niet haasten!! Ook op zondag was het weer goed weer dus besloten we dit keer om naar het strand te gaan. We hebben een heerlijke strandwandeling gemaakt! Ik vind het echt heerlijk om een strandwandeling te maken, het is zo lekker rustgevend!
Ik heb genoten van mijn weekendje weg en het gaf een dubbel gevoel. Aan de ene kant was het heerlijk om even weg van thuis te zijn, maar aan de andere kant was het ook een soort afscheid.
During my internship in New Romney, Kent, I went with 3 others to London for a day. Cindy planned a sightseeing route and it was nice to go there! Even though we were only there for a day we saw quite a lot! Ok we didn’t saw anything inside, but that wasn’t really the plan, at least we have seen everything from the outside. The weather wasn’t really great, it was cloudy but luckily it was dry most of the day.
The first thing we visited was the Tower of London, from there we moved on to the Tower Bridge. We were thinking about going up, but because of the weather we decided not too. Our next stop would be the St. Pauls Cathedral, this one was a bit too expensive to go in for. It was nice though to see it from the outside. After crossing the Millennium Bridge we went to the London Eye, also here we decided not to go for a ride. This was because of the price and because the weather wasn’t really good. While we were at the London Eye we allready saw our next stop: the Big Ben and the parliament. We crossed a bridge and went there. After taking some pictures we moved on to Buckingham Palace. After a walk in the St. James Park we arrived there. There it was allready 2 o’clock we decided to go to find a place where we could eat something. The next thing to do was some shopping, we went to the Apple store, the H&M, Hamleys and Harrods.
In the evening we went to Leicester Square to find a place to eat. We found one and the dinner was nice and for a good price.
I had a great day there and definitely loved my visit to London. This month I will go again, but I can’t get enough of it, I mean there are so many things to see!
Since I was about 15 was facinated with London. Just an irrational feeling of longing to be in a place I’ve never been before. When I was 16 I went to London for 2 weeks during my summer holidays – a sightseeing connected with English language course and obvioulsy fell in love with the city. That time I wasn’t old enough to travel on my own, I had to stick to my group, but still we had a great time.
Soft spot about London remained. I’ve just graduated from university and decided to go on well deserved holidays and visit the place I have so many good memories about. I gave myself one month to explore and enjoy the city and took 2 of my good friends with me, the more the better – great fun. As there were 3 of us traveling together, we could split costs of accommodation – we’ve found nice accommodation at www.accommodationlondonuk.com . The accommodation was located in zone 2, so the costs of traveling around the centre of London were fine and we had an easy access to places like Madame Tussaud’s, Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Covent Garden to start with the most popular destinations.
My only fear is that I won’t have enough time to visit all the places I’d like to.

Avignon France
Last year I partecipated in one of the most important theatre festivals in Europe, and one of the world’s greatest festivals. I’m talking about “Avignon Festival”, also known as Festival d’Avignon . This amazing festival, an annual theatre festival held in french city of Avignon, southern France, has been founded in 1947 by Jean Vilar and it’s the oldest festival in France.

The festival has a beautiful set, the city of Avignon, a beautiful historical city where popes and antipopes lived from the early 14th to the early 15th centuries. For this reason the most charming building of the city is “Palais des Papes“, Palace of Popes, residence of several popes between the 14th and 15th centuries. During the festival, in this building , popular and amazing theatre shows are running.
When in summertime (usually in July) the festival takes place, Avignon becomes a big stage where hundred of shows are performanced by well famous or just emerging actors. The city centre is turned into a pedestrian area where car access is forbidden which allows performers to take up every single corner of the city.

Actually there are two festivals: the more formal Festival In, taking place in traditional theaters and inside the Palace of the Popes and the bohemian Festival Off, taking place everywhere in Avignon streets.

Even if around 100.000 people attend every year the festival, Avignon doesn’t get congested thank to a perfect organization. Every half a hour a shuttle drops off visitors from parkings out of the city to the city centre, 24 hours a day. A professional staff, based in the heart of the city, helps visitor to find accomodation or to give information to them about plays performing during the festival.

In het 2e jaar van mijn HTRO opleiding ben ik naar Barcelona gegaan. Tijdens ons verblijf hier zaten we in een gastgezin. Samen met een vriendin zat ik bij een man en een vrouw in huis. Ze waren ontzettend aardig, maar de communicatie gaat toch wat stroef. Ik kon op zich het Spaans wel verstaan, maar kon niet echt makkelijk antwoord geven. Gelukkig kon mijn klasgenoot wat beter Spaans dus dat heeft wel geholpen! We moesten daar ook naar Spaanse les toe en dat was wel ontzettend leuk. Het was op ongeveer 15 minuten lopen van onze woning af, dus gingen we altijd lopend. Het was goed weer, dus waarom niet toch?
Toen ik daar was heb ik nog aardig wat van Barcelona kunnen zien en dat vond ik wel ontzettend leuk! Ik ben naar de Sagrada Familia geweest en naar Parc Guell, dt zijn natuurlijk 2 plaatsen die je wel moet bezoeken als je daar bent. Natuurlijk hebben we de Ramblas ook een paar keer afgelopen!
Het is al weer even geleden dus weet niet alles meer, maar er staat genoeg op foto, dus kijk zeker daar nog eens op terug. Ik wil wel nog een keertje naar Barcelona en dan gewoon lekker zelf mn dagen inplannen en niet ook nog naar school te moeten en dergelijke. Ik weet zeker dat dat nog wel gaat lukken!

Clubbing and live music in Rome
This beautiful city in Italy is amazing not only because of its historical sites, fabulous monuments, hundreds art exhibitions showing every year, cultural events, and friendly people(which it should be already enough!!!) but also because it has such a dynamic and unbelievable nightlife.
In particular I love 3 zones in Rome where I like to spend my Roman nights: Testaccio, Trastevere and San Lorenzo.
Testaccio is the place where I go to if I wanna have hard parties. Infact it’s full of clubs to dance, every kind of music you are looking for: house, electronic, reggae, rock, hip hop,R&B,’60s.’70s,’80s!!!!
Italian style in Rome
I choose Trastevere and San Lorenzo areas for my chill out nights. The first place is one of the most beautiful areas in the city!It’s a medieval site composed by medieval houses and small streets which in the 60′s and 70′s welcomed artists from everywhere in the world. Nowadays you can have a walk through these lovely streets enjoying nice markets or having the traditional Italian aperitif around 7:00 p.m. in several bars where you can meet people and listen to chill out music as jazz for example.
Chill out in San Lorenzo
The third zone is San Lorenzo. This is a popular area lived by students   (the popular La Sapienza University is not too far from this city zone)and it’s in this area that people meet each others to have a beer, talk, play some music and enjoy the nice Rome weather.
Now you understand why I love this city, it has all the best you can ask for: art, culture, entertainment, cool places and cool people!
Last year I went back to Greece. Again to the Garden Hotel in Pastida, that quiet place about 4 km from Rhodes Town. This time I went there with my parents and sister. Again we had a great time there! The year before I also went to the Garden Hotel and we had such a great time there, that we decided to go back there again. I think it will be the last time we went on holiday with the 4 of us.
It was a bit colder than last time that we went there, but that was in August and this time we went in May. Still it was nice to be there again. I have to say it was easier to just lie in the sun. The water of the pool was a bit cold, but if you just go through it was ok.
This time we saw of course Rhodes Town (a few times even) and Kremasti. Kremasti is a village a few km from Pastida. It was nice seeing everything again and it was good to be back!
The weather was good, good enough to get some colour anyway! The people of the hotel are very nice and they are just great! They arrange trips to other places and they have some entertainment in the evening.
I am definitely looking forward to go back there!!
2 jaar geleden ben ik naar Griekenland geweest. Ik was blij dat ik weer eens lekker op vakantie kon naar een warm land! We gingen in augustus naar Rhodos. We zaten een beetje het binnenland in en dus niet aan de zee. Het was op ongeveer 20 minuten van Rhodos-Stad vandaan. Ik heb gezocht naar een aantal hotels en samen met mn ouders besloten welke het zou worden. We hebben uiteindelijk gekozen voor het Garden Hotel in Pastida. In Pastida is er niet heel veel te doen, maar het is een lekker rustig plaatsje en dat vonden we helemaal niet zo verkeerd!Het hotel was echt geweldig, het was echt een familie hotel. Vader, moeder, dochter, man van dochter allemaal werkten ze daar! Ze waren erg gastvrij en ontzettend vriendelijk. Het hotel heeft 70 kamers allemaal en-suite. Verwacht daar natuurlijk niet te veel van, want ja het blijft Griekenland. Verwacht een kleine badkamer met een douche, wc en wasbak en dan zit je goed. De kamer wordt elke dag schoongemaakt en het ziet er dus ook gewoon schoon uit.
Bij het hotel is er nog een zwembad (ook 1 voor de kinderen). Je kan dus lekker verkoeling zoeken in het water als je het even zat bent om op je ligbed in de zon te liggen. Je hoeft niet aan het zwembad te gaan liggen, je kan ook je ligbed naar het grasveld verplaatsen. Aangezien het Griekenland is kan je tijdens het zonnen ook genieten van de druiven. Ze hebben namelijk een druivenrank boven het terras. Het terras heeft wat schaduw en de gasten kunnen ook nog eens van heerlijke druiven eten. Het is echt het goede leven daar!
Ontbijt en diner zit bij de prijs inbegrepen. Al hoewel het allemaal heel simpel is, is het toch vullend en heb je er meer dan genoeg aan. Voor het diner kan je voor het hoofdgerecht altijd kiezen tussen 2 gerechten. Als voorgerecht krijg je “Greece Salad from Greece”, als hoofdgerecht kan je dus kiezen uit 2 gerechten (pasta, vlees en patat of vis en patat, ze zorgen wel voor variatie al lijkt het nu niet zo) en ze hebben ook altijd een dessert.
Vanuit het hotel worden enkele trips georganiseerd, de dochter regelt namelijk de dagtrips. We zijn met een boottocht meegeweest naar Lindos. Het was echt geweldig. Het uitzicht was echt mooi en dat windje was heerlijk (al hoewel je er wel door verbrand). In Lindos hebben we de acropolis bekeken en het was echt mooi. Ik vond het geweldig om te zien wat ze ooit gebouwd hebben en het uitzicht was echt geweldig!
Ik heb het echt super naar mn zin gehad en ben er ook al weer eens teruggeweest en ga dat ook zeker weer doen!

L’ultima volta sono stata li’ per 3 giorni con la mia famiglia grazie ad un viaggio organizzato da gift-tours, una societa’ inglese.
Christmas in Paris, best experience ever!
Ci siamo divertiti moltissimo e durante il periodo natalizio, strano ma vero, Parigi e’ ancora piu’ bella, nonostante il freddo pungente del dicembre parigino. La citta’ sembrava una meravigliosa bomboniera fatta di luci, colori e luccichii ricca di eventi ed intrattenimento ovunque, sia per le strade sia nei locali.

Ci ha anche positivamente sorpreso l’hotel in cui siamo stati a Paris – St Denis, un paradiso in cui siamo stati trattati benissimo e che ha contribuito a rendere la nostra vacanza indimenticabile!
I posti da visitare a Parigi sono numerosissimi e magari 3 giorni non sono stati sufficienti per esplorare tutta questa magnifica citta’ , ma questo e’ senza dubbio un motivo in piu’ per tornare a Parigi e visitare nuovi volti della capitale francese, assolutamente una tra le piu’ affascinanti destinazioni d’Europa (e per me del mondo!).
Circa quattro anni fa ho deciso di fare un viaggio in giro per l’Irlanda, viaggio che si e’ rivelato uno dei piu’ belli che abbia mai fatto. L’Irlanda e’ una terra splendida, con paesaggi mozzafiato e gente fantastica. Dopo essere arrivata a Dublino ho soggiornato in un ostello chiamato “Four Courts Hostel” .
Crazy life in Temple Bar, Dublin
Sono stata benissimo ed ho conosciuto tanti ragazzi che come me erano in giro per l’Irlanda, un po’ per cercare lavoro un po’ per imparare la lingua, soprattutto per divertirsi. Dopo essere stata pochi giorni in questo ostello di Dublino ho trovato un appartamento nell’edificio piu’ pazzo di Dublino!Immaginate circa 100 appartamenti ognuno con circa 5/6 persone provenienti da ogni parte del mondo e pronti a fare festa 24 ore no stop!!
Dopo un mesetto trascorso tra festini in casa, gran bevute nei pub nel famoso Temple Bar o supportando i tanti artisti di strada, abbiamo deciso di fittare una macchina e partire alla scoperta della vera Irlanda.
Ireland holiday
Il nostro viaggio e’ cominciato quindi da Dublino attraversando l’Irlanda verso Galway. Galway e’ conosciuta come la citta’ del mare, famosa in Irlanda per essere stata in passato fiorente soprattutto grazie ad una fiorente economia basata sulla pesca, e’ per questo che appare piu’ che come una citta’ come un villaggio di pescatori!Dal momento che anche io vengono da una citta’ di pescatori, Taranto, l’ho amata profondamente e mi ha riportato a casa per un po’!
Dopo Galway il nostro viaggio e’ proseguito verso sud alla scoperta del meraviglioso Ring of Kerry attraverso villaggi tradizionali e caratteristici dove la gente del luogo ci ha stupito per la massima ospitalita’. L’ultima citta’ che abbiamo visitato e’ stata Cork, all’epoca capitale della cultura, una citta’ eclettica, affascinante e vulcanica che pullulava di eventi e festival di ogni tipo.
Dopo 2 settimane era tempo di tornare a casa a Dublino con uno splendido ricordo di questa terra e purtroppo dopo due settimane, in Italia!!!E’ stato un viaggio meraviglioso che ricordero’ sempre, ho conosciuto gente memorabile che ancora oggi mi e’ vicina sebbene sia lontana.
Consiglio quindi assolutamente un viaggio in Irlanda, questa fantastica terra!
